Hi I’m Tescia Deák. I am an award-winning creative director at Grey West in Venice, CA. I’m an interdisciplinary thinker who absolutely loves the challenge of a big idea especially one big enough to make a positive impact.
My career path wasn’t linear, but I’m grateful for this because I learned my purpose through sheer perseverance — knowing that no one is ever going to give me anything, I had to go out and get it. This mentality has helped me navigate to where I am today, and I believe it’s especially important for the next generation of women leaders, as we are commonly made to believe we are on the receiving end of our fate.
Over my career I have worked on a wide portfolio of clients highlighted by: Pantene, most recently creating S.H.E. – a browser extension that takes negative gender bias out of search, presenting a more accurate representation of women and girls; Google & YouTube’s Feast of The Wolf campaign which reimagines the classic fairytale of Little Red Riding Hood, while making a strong social commentary on sexual harassment; Fitbit’s First Time, a film shared by our storyteller’s journey of independence that inspires moving beyond barriers and living with determination; Venus Gillette’s campaign for Brazil, featuring a diverse cast of body confident women in a culture famously steeped in objectification and emphasis on defined beauty stereotypes; and Covergirl’s Coverboy campaign which was the first of its kind to champion gender equality in the cosmetics category.
In my spare time I do projects dear to my heart that support equality regardless of sex, age, race or gender. I have participated in company lead initiatives with Famously Effective Women at Grey for mothers returning to work, I was a mentor and a judge at the 2019 One Club Creative Boot Camp in LA, and most recently I have created FreetheVee.org a micro non-profit where I create funny yet factual t-shirts and merchandise while providing information on many ways you can get involved.
